The Host/Hostess is responsible for greeting arriving guests, welcoming them into the establishment and seating them. The Host/Hostess provides the highest quality of service to guests in an attentive, courteous, and efficient manner. He/she is also responsible for ensuring that the guests are made comfortable and kept informed of the status of their orders or wait times.

 Education & Experience: 

·            High School diploma or equivalent and/or experience in a hotel or a related field preferred.

·            Ability to work a flexible schedule.

·            Ability to work in a fast paced environment.

·            Excellent customer service, written and verbal communication skills.

·            Strong intrapersonal and problem solving abilities

·            Ability to focus attention on guest's needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times.

Work Environment / Physical requirements:

·            Constant standing and walking throughout shift

·            Occasional lifting up to 20 pounds

·            Ability to stand during entire shift.

·            Occasional kneeling, pushing, and pulling.

·          Maximize efforts towards productivity, identify problem areas and assist in implementing solutions.

·          Must be effective in handling problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary.

·          Must be able to understand and apply complex information, data, etc. from various sources to meet appropriate objectives.

·          Must be able to cross-train in other hotel related areas.

·          Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information.

·          Must be able to show initiative, including anticipating guest or operational needs.

Fundamental Requirements:

·            Consistently offers a professional, friendly, courteous greeting and engaging service.

·            As guests arrive, the hostess assesses the room and if accommodating table is available, escorts the guests

·            Ensures that the needs of the guests are met while they are waiting.

·            Estimate wait times for guests.

·            Monitor the guest waiting list.

·            Monitor the open dining sections of the restaurant for empty and cleaned tables.

·            Responsible for answering the telephone, booking reservations, and moving tables together to accommodate large parties.

·            Assists guests regarding food and beverage items in an informative and helpful way.

·            Have a thorough knowledge of menus and current specials in applicable outlets.

·            Service guests with all food and beverage requirements in an attentive, courteous and efficient manner.

·            Be familiar with the POS system.

·            Answer the telephone according to standards.

 

·            Perform other duties as requested by management.
